WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senate candidate Patrick J. Bennet (D-CO) released the following statement on Wednesday during a campaign event in Boulder, Colorado, where he had just been confirmed as the new United States Attorney in Colorado:

“I am deeply honored by today’s announcement by Attorney General Barr that he will be filling the vacancy left by my predecessor. I was honored to serve the people of Colorado for over 15 years.

“Throughout my service in the U.S. Senate, and now in the U.S. Senate, I have called on my colleagues to support the law at all times. I have fought to protect innocent human life. I will continue to fight for that same principle on the Hill.

“I am grateful to my wife, Mary Pat, for her tireless work to campaign for me in Colorado. We have been honored to serve with her and the Boulder County elections office over the past year. Mary has been a tireless partner to me since both of us started working on the campaign back in 2013.

“I will continue to advocate for an America that is safer and more prosperous. My family and I wish our families and those we serve all the best. And most of all, we wish the American people all the best. You are the best.”
